"Draw & Code create animation for International Business Festival"
A stunning waterfront, a global event, a large LED wall and a royal visitor: how Draw & Code’s animation welcomed HRH The Duke of Cambridge to a very unique event…
We love Liverpool. We consider ourselves very proud to live in a city that has been central to so many great moments in history and continues to be a vital hub for the UK – one with an unusually open view to interacting with the wider world.
So, it was a thrill to provide Liverpool’s International Business Festival with animated content for their welcoming LED wall. Working with our regular tech collaborators – Adlib – we were given short notice to prepare animation that summed up each of the nine themes running through the event.
This animation was to run throughout the Festival so it had to not feel one-dimensional or repetitive – even though it would be repeated a lot! So it was about assembling multiple views into a single frame and to have constant movement throughout its three minute duration. The resulting animation was dynamic and hopefully captured at least a little of what the event is all about.
The International Business Festival is now into its third incarnation and is by some measures the largest event of its kind. A showcase for a variety of sectors (Draw & Code exhibitied in the Innovation Zone on the Creative and Digital day) with a focus on exporting and international collaboration, it’s like no other trade show we’ve been to. From autonomous cars to VR domes and robotic hands, the Festival is closer to a celebration of business than a trade show. It also boasts the best designed show-floor you are likely to see.
So, how did Prince William get involved? He was attending the event to join the fascinating roster of speakers at the event in his role as the patron of the event. We’ll confess to being a little starstruck as William and his entourage (including a gentleman wielding a sword, obviously) sauntered past Draw & Code’s animated installation.
A day later and it was Liverpool royalty attending the event – Jamie Carragher was a rather different guest of honour!
